Getting Started with Login

Open a browser window and type in the URL for the ChalkandWire at USF Website: www.coedu.usf.edu/main/chalkandwire/

In the Navigation Panel on the right, click on ‘ChalkandWire Login.'

In the ‘New Subscriber’ form, enter your access code …and complete the form.

The next screen is a ‘Terms of Use Agreement’. Mark the checkbox…and click OK

You are now logged into ChalkandWire Make a note of your UserID and Password

ChalkandWire at USF

Preparing Your First Artifact

Open a browser window and type in the URL for the ChalkandWire at USF Website: www.coedu.usf.edu/main/chalkandwire/

In the Navigation Panel on the right, click on ‘Resources'

On the ‘Resources’ page, choose one of the ‘Right to Use’ consent forms.

  • If you will agree to let USF College of Education use your ePortfolio as part of the exhibit for reaccreditation, choose the ‘Agree’ consent form.
  • If you do not want USF to use your work in this process, choose the ‘Denied’ consent form.

    Open the consent form (it is a Word document).

    Type in the information that it asks for…and then type 'signed electronically' on the signature line.

    Next, choose 'Save As' from the ‘File’ drop down menu.

    Save your file to the 'Desktop' as an html file (or Web page) by choosing Desktop in the 'Save In' text box… and 'Webpage' or 'html' in the 'File Type' text box .

    Click Save…

    Create Your Portfolio

    Open a browser window and type in the URL for the ChalkandWire at USF Website: www.coedu.usf.edu/main/chalkandwire/

    In the Navigation Panel on the right, click on ‘Chalk and Wire Login' Login to ChalkandWire using your userID and the password that you chose.

    • Click ‘Enter’ in the ePortfolio section near the bottom of the screen.
    • Click the ‘Profile’ tab near the top.
    • Choose your department from the list at the left
    • Choose Quality Assurance also
    • Click ‘Save Changes’

    On the ePortfolio page, highlight the text in the ‘Create a new Portfolio’ textbox, and name your new portfolio. You should use a name that is easily recognizable, such as the name of your department. Click the Create button

    • Choose a theme by clicking the radio button to the right.
    • Please choose the first theme on the left for now, for simplicity sake.
    • You can change your theme at anytime by choosing a different template.
    • You will see the portfolio with the theme that you have chosen.
    • Your Table of Contents (a list of the classes that have ChalkandWire assignments) will be on the left.
    • Click the ‘Return’ tab at the top to return to the ePortfolio page

    Remember that the file still remains in your Artifact Library, even if it is not linked.
    If you need to revise the file and re-link it, remember to delete the original file from your Artifact Library…and upload the revised file.

    ChalkandWire at USF

    Sending Your Work for Assessment

    You are now ready to have your work sent for assessment

    • Click on the 'Publish' tab FIRST.. You must ‘Publish’ the portfolio each time you make any changes or additions…
    • You may also ‘Publish’ from the class page of the ePortfolio…
    • Close the screen that pops up with Portfolio URL on it.
    • Hit Return to go back to the ePortfolio page.
    • Click the 'Assess' button next to the portfolio name.
    • At the bottom of the screen, choose the radio button for the name of your department and click the 'Submit Portfolio' button.

    The next screen is a demographic survey that you will only have to complete the first time you use the system.

    • On the next screen, choose the class that you attached your work to, and click the ‘OK’ button.
    • You will be asked to choose a person to do the assessment. Check the box next to the instructor’s name… or type the name into the textbox…
    • You have successfully submitted your work for assessment.

    Once your work is assessed, you may check the assessment on the ePortfolio screen

    • Click on the ‘Check Your Assessments’ tab at the top.
    • Read your instructor’s comments and view the grade on this screen.
    • Click ‘Exit’ to return to the assessment screen…or return to ePortfolio by clicking the link at the bottom.
